Clinical Trials related to thalassemia
« on: March 13, 2009, 05:06:44 PM »
I ran into a link which shows there are 46 total clinical trials with different aspects of thalassemia (Cure like Stem Cell, Iron Chelators, Drugs that induce Fetal HB, Factors affecting Severity of Thal etc)

The link is http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?recr=open&cond=%22Thalassemia%22&pg=1

Some of the trails are listed below:- Check the link above to see the complete list. Also, there is a filter option on the Right hand side of the page where the clinical trails are listed to see trails one is interested in

Stem Cell Transplant in Patients With Thalassemia (Cure)
Evaluating People With Thalassemia: The Thalassemia Longitudinal Cohort (TLC) Study  (Complications due to thal)
Endocrine and Nutritional Assessment in B Thalassemia Major (Diet and Nurtrition)
Evaluating the Safety and Effectiveness of Decitabine in People With Thalassemia Intermedia
Phase 1/2 Study of HQK-1001 in Patients With Beta Thalassemia
Evaluating the Safety of G-CSF Mobilization in Individuals With Beta Thalassemia Major
Zinc & Bone Health in Thalassemia: The Think Zinc Study
Detection of β Thalassemia Carriers by Red Cell Parameters Obtained From the H2 Automatic Counter
The Change of Coagulation Markers in Children With β-Thalassemia Disease After Stem Cell Transplantation
Evaluating the Efficacy of Deferasirox in Transfusion Dependent Chronic Anaemias With Chronic Iron Overload
Genetic Factors Affecting the Severity of Beta Thalassemia
Oral Nifedipine to Treat Iron Overload
Iron Balance Study of Deferasirox, Deferoxamine and the Combination of Both
MRI Evaluation of Iron Overload in the Heart, Liver and Pancreas in Patients Receiving Multiple Blood Transfusions
ICL670 in Patients With Chronic Anemia and Transfusional Hemosiderosis
Evaluating Use of Deferasirox as Compared to Deferoxamine in Treating Cardiac Iron Overload

I see the trails are in all parts of the world, so check to see which and what clinical trails are going on in the area around you.

Sometimes , God breaks our spirit to save our soul.
Sometimes , He breaks our heart to make us whole.
Sometimes , He sends us pain so we can be stronger.
Sometimes , He sends us failure so we can be humble.
Sometimes , He sends us illness so we can take better care of our selves.
Sometimes , He takes everything away from us so we can learn the value of everything we have.
