mol is also a unit for measurement but it's a bit more complicated than gram. A common measure in mol is for blood glucose too which gives totally different reading than the usual g/dl. However it's conversion formula for Iron will be different than the one used to convert blood glucose from mole to gram as every element/compound has it's own value of mol.
