does desferal cause hair fall? really need help...
« on: September 17, 2007, 07:06:05 AM »
Hi! I need badly need some explanation why after undergoing chelation therapy (desferal), I've noticed that i was having exagerrated hair fall. It worries me so much. You see, I used to have long hair (above waist level), But I had to cut it really short because my hair strands became really fragile. I am getting a little frustrated since i Love haing long hair.... :dunno ???

Could this be a cause/side effect of desferal?

Thanks a lot...  :biggrin

Hi,

I've been using Desferal since I was a child. There's nothing I see that Desferal has done to my hair.

See for some other reasons for hairfall.

Ofcourse Andy would be the best one to offer you advice :biggrin

I don't think so either, how long you have been using Desferal. If you are using Desferal for long time and it has done nothing to your hair than the sudden change may be due to some other reasons.
Regards.

Hi Zai,

Desferal does remove zinc also, so it is important that you take a zinc supplement regularly. One cause of hair loss is zinc deficiency. Another is low thyroid, which can be checked with a blood test.
