All these things should be used together. The cumulative value of all the supplements is what is important. If Zainab does better than before it will show if the carao is working.

Al, your airmail shipment of 2 bottles was made July 15.  That was 5 weeks and one day ago.  Shipment to some countries takes up to 7 weeks.  I don't know why.  As I said, I paid about $11 postage for your 2 bottle shipment.  I sent only 2 bottles since you did not pay the postage, as the other recipients of the carao donations did. Since you are apparently unwilling to pay postage until the product arrives, let's wait until until your package arrives.  I'll send you a new payment link then.

Mudit, your shipment was made Friday, July 11.  That was 5 weeks and 5 days ago.  Most our shipments to India have been arriving in under 4 weeks, I think, so your delivery seems delayed.  I hope it arrives soon.  There is no tracking information available, since mail tracking from Costa Rica is not yet computerized (and so takes too long).  Again, since some shipments are delayed up to about 7 weeks, we should not consider it lost yet.

The Indian social worker Rudradevananda, who is setting up a sickle cell clinic for the very poor (in Orissa, I think) would probably be able to lend you a bottle or 2, which you could replace when your shipments (2 packages of 2 bottle each) arrive. If you want to contact him, his email is rudradevananda at gmail.com (spam prevention: replace 'at' with '@' and remove spaces.)  He is having very good results with carao for sickle cell.

Please would those who have received their carao shipment post here, indicating when the carao fruit therapy was begun, and the age of the patient, and the dosage being used?

Regards,
Lloyd

Hi Lloyd,

My son is almost 6 years and i give him two teaspoons ( 5 ml each ) everyday. I need sometime to remember exactly when we started to give you the accurate date. Now we almost finished the second bottle.
When i start the third bottle, i will increase the dose to two table spoons (10 ml each ) everyday.

As for me, i didn't start yet as i only received one bottle and i don't want to interrupt this informal study if i finish it and haven't received the rest.

I will get back to you when i remember the exact date, though i remember i posted it in one of the posts :huh

Manal,
I think your dosage plan for your son is fine.  However I believe that 1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 15ml.

Lloyd

Hi Zaini,
Although you daughter should get good benefit from 2 teaspoons/day, I would recommend 3-4/day for her.  It can be taken 3 times/day if desired, to reduce the amount taken at once.  I will try to get Dr. Sokoto from Nigeria to post his recommendations here.  As a pediatrician, his experience is mostly with children.

Lloyd

I want to remind everyone in Lloyd's trial that they need to keep records of the dosage used and the Hb levels before and after starting carao. Also, please make note of any changes in overall health that you see during the trial, and please, once you start, do follow through and don't skip giving it.

Hi Umair,

Actually the smell and taste of carao is very very strong,so it's almost impossible not to detect it,unless you you develop a taste for it,like christine's daughter did, anyways zainab is taking it anyhow, after a bit of fussing, which is a part of being a kid  :biggrin.I just hope she gets it's benefits.

She went for transfusion today and her pre transfusion hb was 9.4 .

Zaini: Pre-transfusion HGB at 9.4?  Isn't that high enough to not require transfusion?  In Costa Rica doctors won't transfuse anybody with higher than about 7.0 HGB.  Is it normal for her to be at 9.4 before transfusion?  What were zainab's previous pre-transfusion levels?  And yes, Zaini, it IS possible to see changes in blood levels in only 10-11 days, although it usually takes longer than that.

How high do you need to see her HGB in order to decide not to transfuse?  Um, I guess you can tell I think it is better to avoid transfusions if possible.  In fact, one of my hopes for this carao trial is that it will allow some participants to stop getting transfusions.

Mudit and Al, have your shipments arrived yet??
