Bone Age and Endocrine glands

Hi

I visited an endorinologist to evaluate Ahmad a couple of days ago, . She checked his weight and height and they were within the normal range according to his age. She wanted some tests concerning the functions of his endocrine glands (fastig blood glucose, phosphrous, calcium,feeritin, thyroid functions, alkaline phosphatase,.....) and they came all within the normal range.

She asked us to do bone age but unfortunatly it said that his bone age is equal to the age of a child who is 3.6 to 4 years old and actually Ahmad is 5.2 years . I am going to visit her next Saturday to give her the results.

She expected that Ahmad could have bone delay and she told me that she will be checking him every 3 months and added that what is important to her is not only the growth but having constant rate of growth

I am really sorry to know that Ahmad bone age is not according to his age.
I have not check Priya’s bone age, but i will go for it and what ever development I will let you know.

Retarded bone age simply means that the child's bone development is not as advanced as normal for his age.

This should be checked in thal majors as they grow. Hormone therapy is sometimes used to aid normal development.

They simply compare the X-ray images with an atlas of images of normal person of that age. At least this is what they do here in Rwp.

yes , this is true. Ahmad x-ray was compared to the Radiographic Atlas of Skeletal Development of the Hand and Wrist by Greulich W.W and Pyle S.I. ( 2nd ed)
