US Social Security Disability
« on: March 27, 2007, 07:58:16 PM »
This is difficult, but I feel that I need to apply for permanant disability. I know that thal minor is not supposed to cause problems, but I have had difficulty my whole life and it seems to get worse the older I get, I am 56 now.

Has anyone had success with explaining these difficulties in order to obtain US social security disability?

Please give me any help, I have to try to find a clinic doctor that will be supportive and understanding so if you could help me explain things in a professional manner that would be most appreciated.

Thanks lovelies,
LindaMarie

LindaMarie-

With all my issues (splenomegaly that required splenectomy,) low platelets (now high because of no spleen), chronically low HB (11 with TransX in October, going down since then,) chronic infections - they only will give me partial disability and its honestly...just not worth it.

This was all with documentation from my hematologist, my primary care doctor, and my surgeon...soooo...I wish you all the luck in the world, but I don't think its going to fly.  Sorry honey.  :-\

Thanks Courtney,

I was sick and lost my entire life savings about 10 years ago and had spent about $20,000 on medical tests with various specialists and all of my tests were abnormal and I still did not qualify. It is almost unbelievable, people can not understand how I became homeless after being  a millionaire when I am a good and well educated woman, they think that there is some kind of help available.

It is good to hear from others with significant health issues who have experienced similar things. Most people simply think that I am some kind of loser, but you have confirmed the truth.

I really do appreciate your reply and am finding a way to survive and live a wonderful life! My motto's are "it's all good" and "anything is possible".

Thanks for the reply and may God richly bless you.

In another forum, an older thal minor had serious problems like you and she was on disability, but she also had a developmentally retarted child at home. I haven't talked to her in a while. Do you want to chat this weekend over the phone?
