New Rs100-cr campaign to combat diabetes

THE government, the pharma industry and leading hospital chains are planning an allout assault on diabetes. The health ministry has planned a Rs 100-crore campaign to increase awareness about diabetes. Major industry players such as Biocon Ltd, Roche Diagnostics and Wockhardt Hospitals are also chipping in with their individual plans to educate the masses about the killer disease.
Bangalore-based Biocon has tied up with ICICI Lombard and Narayan Hrudayalaya hospital to launch an insurance scheme for the poor. They have planned to set up diabetes clinics across the country to reach out to six lakh people over a period of time.
The combined effort of the government and the healthcare industry is expected to double the size of the Rs 600-crore market for insulin, pills and diagnostics in the next five-six years. Health minister Anbumani Ramdoss told ET that his ministry is planning to spend Rs 100 crore in the next two years for the campaign under which every individual in the country would be screened.
Dr Ramdoss said the government would buy insulin and other pills from firms like Biocon and Wochkardt to encourage their domestic production. The health ministry has already approached the Planning Commission and the Prime Minister for funds for the campaign. Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw told ET from Bangalore that the insurance scheme christened "Arogya Raksha" would be launched on December 19 at Anekal taluka in Karnataka. She said substantial funds have been earmarked for the campaign, but declined to divulge the amount.

its good to hear that ur insulin need is droping down ... iron is the main reason of diabetes and reducing iron is working gr8 in favour of us .. i hope that u willl move to pills  soon  ( i know insulin pills r not marketed yet but i m talking abt the other tabs which r not insulin but help's to controle BSL's ) ..... welll my dr  sugessted zinc syrup a few months ago bcoze i m using ferriprox that could create the zinc defiency  so thats y i think she decided for me ... yes my feet ar also dried and cracked ... mayb it is the reason could b related to the zinc  .... i dont know ....  well sorry for replying too much late i didn't red ur post b4....i think i missed it bcoze of power failure or someting else .... take care bye

I have reduced my insulin units ignoring my BSLs .... bcause i found that i m taking high dose of insulin , which is also high to my need ....
a two day ago i reduced took this decission ...
now i m on :

Morning ..
Humulin regular 15 units instead of 18
Humulin N.P.H 30 units instead of 36

Evening .......
Humulin regular 10 units instead of 12
Humulin N.P.H 14 units instead of 20

well.. it seem like a bad decission to cutt off that much ...
but now my BSLs are ..

here i m going to mention again that ,,  as my Ferritin level is decreasing, my insulin need is decreasing as well .... you can see the differnce
