Hi everyone,
Yes i did attend the last day of the conference, actually i targeted the parent patient session looking for some valuable Q/A between
patients and doctors. Session was scheduled for 9 - 11 am but started at 10:45 am (miserable punctuality). There were three patients from different cities on stage, 3 doctors including Dr Tahir Shamsi and our favourite Dr Javeria Mannan, and three representatives from different thal centers.
Nothing new in what i heard and what i was told about other two days of the conference, except that i personally met Dr Tahir (the one in picture with our dearest Sajid giving him certificate). He gave some valuable advices which no one else mentioned to me before about getting regular eye and ear checkups reason being using high doses of desferal can affect both areas and damage to eye can be irreversible. Also i was usually told that we thals should dring more tea as it reduces iron absorption from food we eat, but a doctor there said tea itself is not very good for health and amount iron from food is not much to worry about. Also Dr Javeria Mannan mentioned that combination therapy of Asunra + Desferal is not yet prescribed as long term effect of it is still under trials.
Other than that same old research is in progress on gene therapy like stories and prevention methodologies etc.
I will try to collect some more information from serious attendees and will share with you guyz when i get them
Regardless of the serious stuff, special fun programs were arranged for patients @ Aladin park and McDonalds and kids did enjoy that.
