Hello everyone
Today i attended Professor R. Gambari lecture about induction of fetal HB. It was so interesting and very promising.
He talked about different points that i will discuss later but what i consider a very important outcome is his study of resveratrol offered by different brand names that are already found in the market.
Professor Gambari had discovered that there are certain additives that are added by drug companies that are found to inhibit the effect of resveratrol in the induction of fetal Hb
Since resveratrol is already present in the pharmaceutical market as antioxidant, we have undertaken a study to verify erythroid induction using resveratrol formulations obtained from different companies. This is a crucial investigation, since resveratrol is usually employed together with other additives, such as curcumin, extracts from grape seeds, vitamins. We have demonstrated that several commercially-available resveratrol-based formulation contain additives inhibiting erythroid differentiation; the best formulations for HbF production by beta-thal cells are those containing the highest proportion of resveratrol.
Actually i don't have the lecture copied, but he mentioned what are the components that increase and decrease the resveratrol efficency. The best Brand name that was proved to have 100% effiecency is resveratrol from Transmax Biotivia and also the brand Longenviex
To my surprise (because most of us use it) he found that resveratrol from the brand Puritan Pride was one of the worest resveratrols in terms of effiency. It is efficent by only 3% in the induction of fetal HB. He insisted so much that resveratrol should be taken from a brand that does not add additives to the resveratrol
I guess that this finding is so important cause we can be using an inefficent brand and therefore can not measure or achieve any benefits from these natural inducers
To my surprise too, in his lecture graphs showed that the usage of these natural inducers were able to increase the fetal Hb more than the hydroxyurea
I asked him about the Nature's Way brand that i use, he said that he did not test it but i am happy to say that he took some capsules from me to test the efficency of resveratrol in this particular brand and will have an answer within 20 days
Professor Gambari is so much interested in the natural HB inducers and i told him about the Aloe vera that i am giving to my son and also about the informal study of Carao that we are doing here through our group, he took the names and told me that he will test them on different kind of mutation and their ability to induce fetal HB.
He was so interested in knowing our observation after using carao and is ready to investigate in it more through his lab so may be it will be a good idea if Lloyd Standish and Professor Gambari would get into contact to conduct a more accurate and specialised study in evaluating the efficency of Carao too.
I hope that this helps and that this important note would e taken in consideration to anyone using resveratrol
