Did you try using aloe vera, it is known to reduce blood glucose levels

People with diabetes who use glucose-lowering medication should be cautious if also taking aloe by mouth because preliminary studies suggest aloe may lower blood glucose levels.

In the present study, an attempt has been made to evaluate the presence of antioxidant property in the alcoholic extract of Aloe vera leaf gel. Oral administration of Aloe vera gel extract at a concentration of 300 mg/kgto diabetic rats significantly decreased the levels of blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and increased hemoglobin. The increased levels of lipid peroxidation and hydroperoxides in tissues of diabetic rats were reverted back to near normal levels after the treatment with gel extract. The extract treatment also resulted in a significant increase in reduced glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase in the liver and kidney of diabetic rats. These results clearly show the antioxidant property of Aloe vera gel extract. The extract was also more effective than glibenclamide in restoring the values of these parameters.

Umair,

I hope that you are able to get you blood glucose levels in control very soon.  I agree that Aloe Vera should be helpful.  Have you tried aloe vera with nigella?  Each morning I give both of my children nigella mixed with aloe vera and honey.  Wishing you the best and sending prayers your way.

Umair,

You must stick to a proper dietary plan if you hope to control your diabetes. Two large meals a day is asking for trouble. Please listen to the doctor.

1. Well balanced diet: diet is the most vital part to lower blood sugar levels naturally. As the food we consume plays a major role in body metabolism we must be very keen to follow diabetic meal plan which insists to take small amounts of food for 4-5 times a day. Particularly low-glycemic food items like granola, oatmeal, beans, bread, peas, peanuts and limited amount of carbohydrate, fat, other protein and fiber rich food stuffs , plenty of fruits and vegetables will help to maintain body sugars as they are easily converted to energy.

You are welcomed Umair :hugfriend

umair i am not sure if using the plant directly is right or not. Is there any possibility that the plant could be infected with parasits or bacteria, how will you be able to know if the plant is okay or not???

I think extract in capsules would be better from this prespective :huh :huh cause they have been tested

Umair,

Diet is everything in managing diabetes.  Keeping your blood sugar balanced means eating small nutritious snacks and meals throughout the day - come on buddy this is something that you can do, something that is in your control.  Here is one place you can get information about a diabetes diet:

http://diabetes.webmd.com/diabetes-diet-healthy-diet-basics

Having an apple/pear or carrots between meals is a great idea.  Never go longer than 3 hours between meals - every two hours is ideal.  Also regular exercise - lots of walking will be helpful.

Good luck,

Sharmin

I do not think that contamination of aloe is likely because of its anti-bacteria and anti-parasite properties. However, even though aloe is a miracle when used externally, there are doubts about its safety when taken internally because of its cathartic (purging) properties. I would agree that a measured dose in capsule form is probably a safer way to go.

Hi Umair,

Yeah, I agree with others, you can surely control diabetes fully with careful eating, exercise and insulin. It is fully in your hand, just get as strict  with your diabetes, as you are with thal, you will be able to do it.

You should get very efficient with the carb count of your meals. Have many small meals all day and not 1-2 big meals. And walking...yes its the best for beating  diabetes. My dad is 75 and walks two hrs  daily , takes insulin, and keeps as  healthy and buzy like a 25 yr old. I too had gestational diabetes, when I was expecting, but with lots of walking ,insulin and Gods grace things  went well. While checking glucose level 6 times a day, i came to know exactly  what food and how much causes what sugar level. Small changes like 1 biscuit instead of 2 at a time, brown rice instead of white, food with more fibre, good mix of veggies and protein, minimum fruit juices, sweets, no sugar in beverages, eating early dinner, walking half an hour after lunch and dinner, etc really helped me. Small timely meals, timely insulin keep the hypoglycemis events very less. Be very strict with your daily eating and insulin taking schedule. Also, always keep glucose tablet or sugar handy/in pocket, to avoid any hypoglycemia event.

I dont know much details about Hep C, but with treatment I know people who have controlled it and are living healthy lives.
As you are successfully managing thal you can manage the other thing also.May your strength and hard work control your ailments.
Best wishes.

Umair,

All I know of diabetis isn't a lot. My grandmother developed it because of pancreas cancer. What I know is that you should spread your meals over the day. That's good for every anemic person. I am not swapping the words of exercise in front of your eyes, because I feel already ashamed while typing this.

Umair, I hope you are doing well!! I returned home in late evening. I did install the messenger. It's working really fine.

We have a thunderstorm since 4 hours. I wasn't albe to rescue the parasol. A big concert has been stopped by governent people. I am lucky, still have electricity.

Thank you all ( Sharmin, Andy, Manal, Hopefulmommy & Dore )  , for your really informative replies , these r realy helpful to understand diabetes and to understand how i can cope with diabetes ,, but these are the thing my doc has already adviced me, the proble is that i cant follow these instructions , or in other words i m tried hard but didnn't follow theese , i dont know wat is my reall probleme is , ferriprox 9 a day i think that is the reason of my monster like hungriness , i m monster at eating , cant u believe na, i also cant believe how can i eat that much,  my eating habbit is creating probleme more than anything and i think the reason behind that habbit is Faerriprox ... i cant believe how quickly my weight hoover's around 41 to 45 kg , in just 10-12 day it can go up from 41 to 45 and in the other 10-12 days can come back  ,,  i never been more than 45kg in weight but its not still at 41 or 45 its always moving around ... anywayz , i will try to controle my habbits ... i m really feeling exhausted to this issue , dont want to think more abt BSLs .... i will keep trying if it come's in controle it will b right otherwise i m trying my best and not going to think abt it anymore ... feeling very tired of this ( diabetes ) ....

i visited my doc yesterday she advised me HBA1c test  (as BG advised me this as well a lil ago ) , she said me to keep strict record of diabetes ( its another difficult job )  and try to have get good controle over diabetes , she also prescripted me Hep-C test ( i m not gonna check my file to tell you the exact test names at this time ) ... she added a valc+vit-D tablet in my medicines list .. now  its time to take decision about interferon , that decision will b taken according to my next Hep-c report ... sigh, let's see wat is gonna happen next ... i won't think more, just wana relax , tired of thinking hahahahaha .... its not the iron, that is more easy to controle than diabetes especially the diabetes with thal , diabetes with thal is really difficult thing to handle ... once i wasn using a forum tha Sajid sugested me that was a diabetes forum , there i got to know that thals always need more/high insulin doses than others ... that i got to know after discussion witha few diabetic thals , and it was mine and Sajid's finding and we (me and Sajid ) was agreed on this point ... i think this post is long one , soooo

Best Regards

Hi Umair

How are you now?  How is it going with the diabetes?
You are courageous, Inshaallah you will be able to control it .
Keep fighting against it and as far as possible  try to stick to the regime.

(btw  i think you should avoid food that come directly from the soil such as potatoes, beetroot, peanuts etc, you should replace your consumption of white flour by brown flour, you should avoid sweet fruits such as bananas etc, you should eat leafy vegetables)

I think that in Pakistan and in India, people do not eat leafy vegetables, but we consume these a lot here.  There are some vegetables that we consume in Mauritius which are not known in other parts of the world.  There are vegetables such as chouchou (which probably no one knows on this site)  would have helped you with your hunger without adding to your sugar level but you will not have them at your place. Try to adjust with what you have there.

(correct me if there is any mistake)
Take care
Jade
