I've just seen the messages -- I was away for a while --- and come on, guys "gossiping" was meant to be a joke but it didn't hit the target--well, next time.

Lena.

There is a quote that says - "A guilty conscience pricks the mind."

Madhavi,

a good idea indeed.

Well, I like reading a lot--which is why I became a translator of Arabic Literature. In fact I combined my two favourite pastimes - reading literature and learning foreign languages - and after retiring from the bank I started a second carreer, that of a translator. In Greece, there is a State Law for people with thalassaemia: they can retire after 15 years of service and get a full pension. That's what I did and now I occupy myself more creatively.

Apart from that, I love travelling, going out with one or two special friends - but that's that, I am not very social -  going on an excursion, watching theatre and of course writing in this site -- that' s
something I have been following for the last two years and I am happy for it.<Thanks, Andy!>

Lena.

Lena. you are such an interesting woman. I also love foreign languages. I am very interested in your job, because since almost 6 months we try to get publish (and translate) a book from a friend. Recently we received not so good news, so this person is very sad. So if you have any tips.. As for Arabic. I have one friend who studied Arabic, one friend who studied Arabic Philosophy and a mother who learns Arabic.

Now i must first read the rest of the topic. I was joking when I said I have no hobbies. Ofcourse I have them, I only find rarely the time to do it.

Reading: books, law, medical, science, diaries, biography, history, geograpic. You name it, and I will read it. (You can always give me tips). My next target will to start reading poetry. That's not really my interest, but I know it will be good for me. Any tips/help is welcome.
Writing: but I don't do it anymore in the way I used to do it.
Music: more listen than creating music myself nowadays.
cooking.. Especially things from abroad
gardening: used and never in the winter
travelling; more in my dreams, books and TV programs
And in the past I was very creative with paint, but I lost that completely. That's probably the worst change
Photos: Before the summer I was working hard to work my photo bags away in photo albums.

I have the feeling that I do forgot something, but I cant remember what at the moment.

Zaini,

Dore is still dreaming about her own secret hobby - which I am guessing is - shopping for chocolates and eating them.

(It COULD be my secret hobby too.. but I'm not telling...  )

Chocolates.
I am not used to them because my parents were told that I could not eat it anymore after I lost my gallbladder and spleen. I dont eat it often. In the past it gave me a sore throat, but I guess I am getting used of it.  :rotfl I adore Belgium chocolates - it's even nice to look at them  :biggrin

 Dore,

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I've just sat in front of my laptop and read all messages. What kind of book are you talking about? I'll be happy to share with you anything you want to ask. Generally speaking, it is too difficult for publishers to proceed to publish Arabic. I know that this happens in Greece as well as worldwide. Arabic culture is so different from West culture and publishers believe it will not sail. It took a lot of hunting on my part, to manage to persuade my editor to dive into Arabic Literature and thank God, he is a brave man, a brave editor and he finally did it. But this is rare and I know this  happens abroad, too.

Pretty,

I am glad someone finally commented on my referring to that "gossip" thing, thank you. I was just joking, of course.

Lena, the publisher wants more and more time and the writer get more and more  :(
I just read my hobbies and realised I do none of them! (Except reading a book. I am reading a book from P. Vincency in Englsh - it's not literate I believe)

         :rotfl  :grin

is this a girls' only section? so low posts by boys hehe . I guess cuz gossip has to do more wid it.

My hobbies:

eating in-and-out,and watching cooking shows and ALWAYS DAY-DREAMING of learning cooking myself!  :rotfl ...  bodybuilding, sports mainly cricket football ..fav EPL team CHELSEA ... watching TV talk shows, english movies whether funny romantic action but mostly with a good story line. Not much interested in ZERO-STORY-ALL-ACTION films... 2 days ago i saw mel gibson's movie in which after an accident he could listen wutever women THINKS...and woooo hooow wut a comedy it was  :rotfl ...uncovering women back-of-the-mind-dirty-things :rotfl … with apologies to dear ladies, I know men hav more worse things than that :rotfl.
playing videogames  :letsgo, love to b a vagabond wid my friends and cousins, roaming around. And for reading I must say I hate poetry and I ONLY read wikipedia ..i open it up and read and try to study about anything that comes in my mind. Just 3 days before my topic of interest was about WW2 , the holocaust, the medieval kings and wars. And there I studied a love story too, that is very tragic and very true and I guess more impressive than any other story that was of Peter Abelard and Heloise. :hissyfit

Right now lifestyle is bit disturbed as ive just graduated and looking for job….being unemployed, daily routine is to watch Talk shows, eat delicious Arabic plus paki food, wikipedia, facebook, window messenger, movies, and videogames

Night passes by while doing exactly wut this cartoon tells  :laughspit  and im having aVERY disturbed sleeping routine these days, sumthing like  :tired  ...and ofcourse i luv luv luv tea  :coffee   and have turkish coffee whenever i get a chance

Hello!

I don't have a lot of hobbies but I have some.

The first one is more than a hobby, it is a need. I need listening to music. I get too stressed when I can't do it.

The second one is travelling. In fact, now I'm in Nottingham (UK) for 5 days.

Finally, I love being outdoors. It doesn't matter if I'm shopping, having a coffee or studying, I need to be somewhere at the sun out of home.

I do other things but it is not really a hobby, it is just entertainment. I sometimes play cards, cook or read when I feel tired but it is not that I want to do that, it's just that I can't do the others.

Kisses to everybody.

Laura.

I love comedy - no matter how stressed or unwell I am, if i can get myself to watch comedies, or read funny stuff - I feel somewhat better. It increases our happy hormones and helps us heal. I have a voice clip somewhere of a lil baby laughing - I play it just once and start giggling myself.

I love writing funny stuff too. I guess that makes humor/comedy my hobby?

I really love Comedy Preety. I need to laugh to be ok. I feel it is necessary for everybody but it is essencial for the people that  usually don't feel good.

Laura,

I have an unusual problem.  lol..   I start giggling even before the joke starts.  It drives others really mad - but once I'm laughing, we forget the joke in question, and everybody laughs.

I really think humor gets me through the toughest of times.

I am usually very jittery even with blood tests since i bruise easily and my pain tolerance is extremely low. But my last test i was groaning in pain and laughing at some joke at the same time. I sounded a  bit like  aaa eeeeeeeeeee aaaaaa haaa haaa haaaaa  aaaaaaaaa eeeeee  ....
