how many of thals are getting education living away from their family

i know two of my thal major friends from Maldives, who are living away from their families in Malaysia and doing their degrees.

I too lived alone in Malaysia for my higher studies for three years before I got married and my husband joined me.

then how you manage transfusion

well,

at first in malaysia it was not so easy since i was very new to the country, did not know much people and i did not know any hospitals.. my university helped me in directing me to some of the hospitals..

i think i went to about three hospitals before deciding that i would go to this one particular hospital (SDMC)..

once i decided on the hospital, things were not so difficult or different than how i took transfusions at home in Maldives.. I call the hospital a few days ahead, make an appointment and go to see the doctor and to get the blood tests done.. then the next day, i go for transfusions.. i try to make sure that those days i go for blood tests, it is either on a saturday (which i  dont have any classes on) or after classes.. and since i take 2 units, and need a full day for transfusion, i try to fix my transfusions on the days with the least number of classes..

i assume u must be atleast 16 years since ure considering higher studies abroad.. well, then u know WHEN u will need transfusion right? i mean ure duration, whether u take ure transfusions every 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 4 weeks..

i think all grownup thals knows approximately when they need transfusions.. so the trick is to plan ahead and to communicate well with ure doctors..

  ure welcome , glad i could be of a help.. u have to know that it is not an impossible thing at first u are bound to think that its a foreign place and faraway from home.. but after a while, that foreign place becomes ure home.. we have, i believe, a lot of thal pals here even, who are not only studying away from home, but working too.. and most of the time working life is more hectic.. so ankita, as long as u have will power and determination, impossible is nothing
