Port-a-Cath Questions
« on: May 26, 2011, 02:55:26 PM »
I have a few questions for people who may already have a port-a-cath and have experience and therefore are able to provide an accurate point of view. I am thinking of having a port-a-cath in situ. I have concerns in regards to whether it is uncomfortable and whether I would still be able to play football or take part in running which I currently enjoy. Also would I be able to administer desferal over 12 hours through the port-a-cath, and if yes what needles are used as at the moment I use thalasets needles and can't see how I could connect the thalaset needles to the port-a-cath. Finally I am a type 1 diabetic and was wondering whether I could administer my insulin using this method.
Some of these questions have been answered by healthcare professionals however I would feel comfortable making my decision based also on past experiences from patients.
Many thanks in advance.

Hey Sajid,

I'm going to re-post this in our Facebook group to see if we can get some input. I know Aston Dialo in this group can answer most, but I haven't seen him around lately, here or on FB.
