still birth autopsy
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:36:13 PM »
i know someone who just found out in her 37th week of her first preganncy that her baby is dead. she is currently being induced to have the baby. she wanted to know if an autopsy shold be done.
does is it always provide the reason for death?
will it help in her future pregnancies?

quick replies would be appreciated thank you!

She should find out. If there is a genetic reason for the stillbirth, she needs to have this information for possible future pregnancies.
Andy

All we are saying is give thals a chance.

thank you Andy, Sharmin and Zaini.
it's a tough time for her but she's trying to be strong and we are by her side to help her through it.
doctors cannot understand the reason for the miscarraige, specially in the 37th week.
i think they won't get a complete autopsy but will examine the cord blood and placenta and carry out genetic testing of the parents.
the baby has been delivered but her placenta is not coming out so she'll have to be operated upon.
i hope it all goes well.
remember us in your prayers, thank you!

Oh dear, I pray that all goes well.  Was this her first baby?  My heart goes out to her, this tragic event and the trauma of surgery.  Sending prayers her way.
