Failure to Thrive
« on: July 20, 2011, 07:50:14 PM »
Hello everyone I know it has been a while since I have been here. I do have a question about some subjects. I have not had too much time to hardly do too much research but I did manage to get a hold of my old medical files as an infant and child and there are a lot of notes in there about "failure to thrive". Some people have told me that it is one way they used to diagnose thal. Is that true? Thanks for letting me know. If anyone can please send any answers to my email at shauntie3128@yahoo.com.  Thanks

Failure to thrive is a general diagnosis and yes, it is used to describe infants with thal, as growth rates and physical development lag. Once failure to thrive is noted, further investigation is needed, which in thals leads to the eventual diagnosis of thalassemia.

All we are saying is give thals a chance.
