sharing our incredible ferriscan results

When my son was adopted from China at age 3 in 2010, his first ferriscan was 17.4 (severe iron overload).
10 months later, after 8 months on 500 mg Exjade, his ferriscan was 4.1 (normal range for transfusion dependent patients)
one year later...(two weeks ago) ferriscan results 2.8 (normal range for a non transfused person!!)

We are meeting Friday to go over other bloodwork results to make a decision about chelation.
I believe we will be stopping Exjade for 6 months, or lowering it to 125 mg for 12 months.

We are ecstatic at the results! Never in a million years would we have ever imagined that we would be in this place right now!

Those numbers are from the FDA approved Ferriscan MRI. I'm looking at the report. The results are in mg/g of dry liver tissue.
June 2010 at age 3 he was 17.4 mg/g dry liver tissue. Started 500 mg Exjade.
April 2011 at age 4 he was 4.1 mg/g dry liver tissue. This was in the normal/goal range of 3-7 mg/g dry liver tissue for transfusion depedent patients.
April 2012 at age 5 he was 2.8 mg/g dry liver tissue which is within the normal range for NON TRANSFUSION DEPENDENT people. (He is transfused every 21 days.)
