I am no expert, but to me your numbers look like they are all within the normal range...if you were a minor I don't think your Hgb would be in the normal range let alone at the higher end of normal...did your doctor think you were a carrier? I think that one doesn't always show on CBC/electos...only genetic testing.

Best wishes :)

i would like to confirm this status because long ago my Dr said i had thal minor. Her decision is based on elevated ferritin and microcytosis or other blood test result. After searching, elevated ferritin is most likely from inflammation but my CRP test several times is within normal range. I dont know why.

Is there any different between minor and carrier?

What DNA test for thal?

Thanks.

These particular results do not indicate thal minor to me - the hemoglobin and mcv values are usually far lower in thalassemia.

Every blood value that could indicate thal minor is normal. It does not look at all possible that this involves a thal carrier. DNA testing would not be justified. Unless a different test showed completely different results, there would be no reason to suspect thal minor. Also, ferritin is not normally elevated in minors.

All we are saying is give thals a chance.
