Pratik,

Maybe try eating a banana a day for the next few days...balance the sodium & potassium
I do it daily or at least at alternate days. :)

Also consume fresh coconut water almost on daily basis so that also gives nice amount of potassium.

Yes, the pain is reduced by 80%, hope I'm fully recovered by tomorrow.  :biggrin

I will be taking 800mg today (1/2 of my dose), then 1200 tomorrow and 1600 from day after tomorrow as routine.

Pratik,
Hope you have recovered ...

Sharmin, Thanks for asking about Miss E. She is doing better now. We are trying to pay close attention to her fluid intake at home. When she is in school, we have no clue how much she drinks. She is already on a very low maintenance dose , so we did not change her exjade dosage yet. We also give her banana's on a regular basis.
I found this liquid vitamin for kids...we ordered one for little E and see if she can take it. She does not like centrum cheweables and as per oakland, the gummy bears are not much useful..so, we will see if this one will work for us. http://www.vitacost.com/childlife-multi-vitamin-and-mineral.

Thank you Canadian family for sharing your story. We are also giving Tylenol occasionally if the leg cramps bother her too much. So far doctor cannot find anything so they are calling it growing pains. Becoz of exjade and her low ferritin level, the med is always at the back of my mind whenever she has anything unusual.

Trying to recover.

The cramps are almost good, but this liver seems to be giving me a hard time. I took 800mg tomorrow and I again got liver discomfort. Such a thing had never stayed for such a long time. I'm taking Hepamerz tablet along with turmeric though.

Well,

I wanted to skip dose today and dad handed me over 800mg in the morning and now I'm feeling slight discomfort or little pain near liver area and also a bit of discomfort near lower right (near kidneys) now.

I never had such a long time of discomfort in these 4 years of taking Exjade.

Andy, what should I do?

As a precaution you should stop Exjade until you can have your regular liver and kidney function tests done. I would suggest getting them done immediately to make sure you're not reacting to Exjade. Because you are now also having some pain on the right side, you should have your appendix examined.

Should I get sonography done? I haven't got it done in these 2 years.

I don't think I'm having appendix problem because it only happened today after I took Exjade. I think I'll stop Exjade for 2-3 days from now completely. My transfusion is scheduled after 6 days, so I'll get the tests done on next Friday.

It might be just my bad or weird thoughts but I feel the pain increases after I take IP6, lol, most probably I'm wrong.

But since a couple of hours, I'm feeling burning sensation in lower right near my stomach and also the ongoing liver mild pain.

I'll skip dose for tomorrow and day after tomorrow.

I'll just wait till tomorrow evening, if it does not show any improvement, I'll visit the doc tomorrow evening.

Andy, any speculations regarding the trouble?

Pratik,

Are you taking IP6 with any protein foods like milk? This should be avoided as IP6 reacts with proteins.

I take IP 6 before meals (around 30 minutes or so) and thereafter I consume tea (made from milk).

Is that a problem?

I would suggest avoiding milk for 2 hours after taking IP6.

Andy,
Thanks for checking the link...We will see how Little E likes it...but for Thalpal friends, this may be a good one to recommend for little kids who cann't take centrum...This one seem to have all the important minerals that gummy bears generally do not have.

Pratik,
Hope you feel better soon. With constant pain and discomfort, may be atleast you should see your family physician to make sure everything is OK.
