hello everyone,
My 2yr old son is b-thal minor. Could someone tell me how to figure out if he has G6PD or not ?
His blood work CBC looks like this:
WBC : 10.9
RBC : 5.7
Hb : 10.4
Hematocrit : 33.3
MCV : 58
MCH : 18.2
MCHC : 31.2
RDW : 19.9
Thanks!

You can't diagnose G6PD deficiency by a CBC. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enzyme testing is required.

Thanks Andy. One more question: we got the G6PD testing for both father and mother and those are within normal limits. Does that the mean the child is OK and doesn't have G6PD ?

If neither parent carries GP6D, the children can't carry it.
