Lokki maa
Yes absolutly but because of exjade my baby has highly increased pain in legs he couldn't sleep properly and hence i use to go to work always with half sleep hangover. Desferal is considered the safest chelator, it was in use in market for 40 yrs before deferasirox come into existence. Another reson to switch to desferal that my son was on higher limit of exjade dosage and still feritine wasn't under control. I am so glad that he is not having severe leg pain. I must admit now that i had fobia of starting infusion. Small small things make life easier we use local anesthesia cream for one and half hour before pricking him and that helped a lot. This is almost standard practice but in south asia number of specialised are almost 1/3 and most of the time they skip this thing. Start with oral chelator but do not get infusion fobia. With surprise egg and local anesthesia cream we get through.

Lokkhi,
There is no need to begin chelation with the ferritin below 1000. It is best if you can wait until age 2, and unless the ferritin suddenly jumps, it doesn't look like chelation will be needed before then.
