Bluebird bio has come out with a price tag of USD 1.80 million. This is a huge price tag, so patients in Asian countries can't afford to have this treatment

I would expect the eventual price to be lower in Asia, just as it is with BMT. IF not, they won't get anywhere in the Asian markets.

It's tough to predict when this will become available outside of Europe. It will be submitted for approval in the US next year. After approval, there is a period when the manufacturing process and the distribution network is being set up, so approval won't mean immediate access at first. Hopefully, prices will be adjusted for the Asian market when it does become available.
