Hi Andy! Thanks so much for the reply! I actually had contacted Dr. Kessler to get an appointment, but unfortunately they told me he's no longer taking any new patients. I explained to them the ordeal I had with seeing doctors who were not too knowledgable about Thalassemia and how that has hindered my care. That didnt seem to make a difference at all, and they referred me to another colleague of his.
Dont know what I can do further.

I'm checking on the Facebook thal support group to see if I can get any other names.

Also, is there a specific area that would be more convenient for you?

Hi ,
Did you find any doctor in this area? I plan to visit family in this area in the summer. Knowing a good doctor would help. Also could the same doctor run a search for a bone marrow/ cord blood match or are transplant doctors separate from paediatric hematologist?

Zahra,
I know some patients in the DC area. I'll see if I can get some contact info.

The list Eugenio put together from sources, including our list of treatment centers, has these two centers listed for DC.
Children’s National Medical Center –Washington,DC
George Washington University Hospital –Washington,DC
Johns Hopkins in Baltimore is another possibility. I have been told that for children, Children’s National Medical Center is recommended.

Thank you Andy. You continue to amaze.
I took my son to Childrens National last time I visited but the Dr we saw has left. Is it possible your contact can recommend another doctor @ John Hopkins or Children's National?

I got a bit more info. The Peds doctor I know at Georgetown is Dr. Corina Gonzalez. I can send you the email address if you need it.
And they do BMT at Johns Hopkins, but I don't have the contact info.

I also received these two names from Johns Hopkins, but they couldn't verify that both doctors are still there. Dr. Kato or Dr. Cassella.
