Hi Badra,

I'm not sure what you are trying to ask :huh Correct me if I am wrong; are you asking if you should take 250ml instead of 500ml per month?

Well, in any case, it all depends on you HB. If you require 500ml according to your weight and physique to keep the HB above 10g/dl, then there is no need to cut down transfusion unless you can tolerate low HB and your doctor advises it!! :dunno

Take care, Peace!

If I understand this correctly, BDRA is saying that she takes 250ml blood, then she is given lasix and then another 250 ml blood. Lasix is a diuretic sometimes given with transfusions.

From http://www.cooleysanemia.org/sections.php?sec=2&tab=10&sub=33

Quote
Do you require lasix after receiving blood (for patients with cardiac conditions)?

Because of the extra fluid that you receive with a transfusion, people with cardiac complications may need lasix to help with the fluid overload.

BDRA is asking if this is the best way to take blood.
Andy

All we are saying is give thals a chance.

BDRA,
Hello and welcome. I also receive my blood this way, with Lasix inbetween transfusions. It helps reduce the water retention.  Jean
