How much supplements to take?
« on: May 22, 2017, 01:35:45 AM »
Hey all!
Just got my blood test results back, and am really confused (and upset with how nonchalant the doctor was!) with what am i to do right now in terms of supplement?

This is my results
CBC

  HAEMOGLOBIN             93       g/L         L     115-155
  PCV                     0.30     L/L         L     0.35-0.46
  MCV                     61       fL          L     80-99
  MCH                     19       pg          L     27-33
  WBC                     6.3      x10E9/L           4.0-11.0
  Neut Seg                3.5      x10E9/L           1.9-7.5
  Lymphocyte              2.3      x10E9/L           1.0-4.0
  Monocyte                0.4      x10E9/L           0.2-1.0
  Eosinophil              0.1      x10E9/L           0.0-0.5
  Basophil                0.1      x10E9/L           0-0.2
  PLATELET COUNT          268      x10E9/L           150-400

Iron Studies

  Ferritin     120     ug/L          20-170

I am currently taking folic acid (2.4mg) and vitamin b12 (75mcg) daily. Have been doing so for the past 6-7 years since I've been diagnosed - really helped me with my Haemoglobin levels by the way. I was at 67 g/L at one point in the past.

Question... Should I continue taking my folic acid and vit b12 at those dosage or increase/decrease them? Any other things that I should/can be taking as well? I do experience fainting spells, unexplained abdominal pain (scans show nothing is wrong physically) and general lack of energy :(

Thanks in advance, everyone <3

Yes, you can easily raise the folate to 5 mg daily. I would suggest a much higher dose of B-12, 1000 mcg daily. I would also suggest vitamin D.

Hi Andy

As usual, thanks heaps for your advice.
I will look at other supplements that gives me that amount.
Any recommendations?
I currently ship my supplements from iHerb :)

I have seen good improvements in my health during last 12 weeks by:

a) Increasing Folic Acid dosage which I had never taken in past few years
b) Vitamin D 60,000 IU every week or then make it every 10 days
c) Methylcobalamin 500 mcg shot, 1ml every week, then 1ml every 15 days, then 1ml every month, so on

I did asks my doctors whether I should take Vitamin B6 supplements, but they have said No for now.

I occassionally take Cap Domperidone(30mg) + Omeprazole(20mg) for 15 straight days or 45 straight days in morning to control acidity and improve on my liver. Sometimes I replace it with Cap Domperidone(30mg) + Rabeprazole(20mg).

I have not found a good solution to tackle my Uric acid. Hunt is on in the Homeopathy or Ayurveda for the same.

elohvielove,

A couple basics I would suggest are 400 iu natural vitamin E and 500 mg magnesium, both daily.
