Oh yeah! I remember George Washington. I was there the day his wooden teeth caught on fire.  :rotfl
I told him not to smoke those cigars so short.  :wink

But mostly I hung out with our best president, Thomas Jefferson. Who else could've bought half the country for 3 cents an acre?    :thumbsup   You think the French might regret that sale? hahahahahahahaha  :grin

Has anyone noticed that the average age of this group is relatively young?  Not that this is a bad thing, but being new to the group and doing a quick perusal of the calendar revealed that I am the forth oldest.  I was just curious if perhaps this means that my time is rather short, or if there is just a lack of participation by those 50 and above.

I’d prefer to think it was the later, but it never hurts to ask.  The fact that Andy is 231 did give me hope, but I seem to recall that he is not a carrier.

I think a large part of this is that people over 50 are not as internet savvy as younger people and are not online so much. Also, frankly, we are only now entering the age where majors are beginning to live that long so there are not really a lot of majors over 50...yet. That is changing rapidly.  :biggrin

By the way, I did get the name of a doctor in the Houston area. The president of TAG lives in that area and she has a doctor that is quite good. She has been in India so I am waiting to hear back from her with the doctor's info and will pass it along as soon as I do hear.

Thanks Andy … I was leaning towards that being the reason for the lack of participation within my peer group.  I spend each day never being satisfied with the knowledge that I took to bed the night before.  The day I become to old to learn or loose my curiosity as to what awaits around the bend of the coming day will be the first day that they can start digging the hole that will become my final resting place.

I would very much like to know the name of the doctor.  During my last check up as my PC physician was again adding medications and increasing dosages I told him that enough was enough and that it was important to me that we examine the Thalassemia card first.  His reply was that Thalassemia has no effect on my health issues and that he grows weary of my bringing it up.  So, I am definitely in the market.

Until I found this site, I was pretty much at the mercy of those who I went to for medical needs.  The knowledge that I continue to gain by reading through the posts on this site have empowered me with the information I need to take back some of the control in regard to how my body will be treated.

I have gathered the vitamins and minerals suggested on the site.  I had yet another blood draw today and hopefully I can get the numbers you had asked about in a follow-up to the original post.  Having the right doctor is my one very large missing piece to getting my puzzle together.

Thanks for all the input and advice as I continue to read and learn from those who have traveled so far.  As I stated before … my only regret is that it took m so long to find ya’s!!!

Hi Andy ,

There are many computor savvy  :biggrin  :biggrin :biggrin  50yrs young out there but they don't have thal and they don't log on our web-site.My guess is, they are too busy with everyday living,  contented with their lot in life and they are ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? pain free .I hope so for them.

The few older people that frequent this site is thirsty for answers and I bet you, we all had the feelings that there are more than meet the eyes than what the doctors were telling us.
In time as people becomes more dellussional with the doctors' "dance of deception" the web-site surfers will increase. That is because we all wants answers.

I'm so glad I was able to access this forum because it has answered many of my questions and  aleviate my doubt and saves me, lots of further complications from unrequired medications, that the doctor was in the habit of prescribing.
I'm  proud that I did go back to college to learn how to use  a computor.
Thr experience is serving me right and probably will exend my lifespan.Knowledge is bliss.
Kathy.
