hi alll i just joined this website and i am new to this website i am from islamabad the capital of pakistan and i have thalassemia major. and i would like to say its a very nice effort by the maker of this website and admins that there are such websites for paople with thalassemia major to talk and learn from each other...

You will find Thal. patients, parents and friends related to Thal. from all over the world on this site that are more than happy to answer any question put forward. walaikum-salam sajid thanks for the nice welcome good to hear that you live nearbye and ive been reading your posts and i want to meet you some time:) i come to pindi for blood transfision in A.F.I.T and i have another thala major freind who lives next street to mine and he will be joining this web-site soon so i have 3-4 thala major freinds around me so we can have thala major petiants mini meet sometime:) and if you have any questions about me or for me feel free to ask i will be more then happy to answer and i will try my best to answer all your question....

I was wondering which center is A.F.I.T. Is it the one at the Medical College or the one near the 6th road?

By the way, I go to Holy Family Hospital's Punjab Blood Transfusion Unit's Thalassemia section for my TransX. Here is a post in the Treatment Centers section for finding it: http://www.thalassemiapatientsandfriends.com/index.php?topic=10.msg616#msg616

Please include the directions for your center as well.

As for the meeting. This site is the best place to meet no matter if you live next door or across the globe. We can schedule an online chat on this site once all your friends are registered. @sajid A.F.I.T satands for Armed Forces insitute for transfusion i dont know the map but it is behind state life in sadar rawalpindi. sure do arange an online meet sometime/

Well, I go to a government operated Thal. center that is running in Holy Family Hospital. As you know with all the government based operations, they hardly give attention to the people. The doctor seldom sees what goes on in the ward. Although he is a nice guy and an expert, but there is no system of regular checkups here in this center. However, he is quite good and knows what he does when you go to his private clinic or if you are lucky enough to find him in his room in the hospital. :wink This center just provides blood on cooperative basis and that itself is a blessing enough for a government operated service.
