« on: March 08, 2007, 11:44:43 AM »
hi all,
been feeling very tired lately and i looked at my blood results from 2 years ago and i saw my hb level was 99.  is this the normal for a thal minor.  is there a hb range that minors fall into?

My hg has ranged from 110 to 129.  Mostly it is closer to 110.  Others in my family have had 108 etc.

If someone's hg is below this maybe it is because of variation in how the trait is expressed in them or maybe it is compounded by something else such as iron deficiency.  Hopefully your doctor can help you determine whether anything can help boast you hg.

Yours is low for a male but within range for thal minor. HB varies by age, gender and altitude keep in mind. Mine is usually 10 or 100 depending on where you put the dot :)

My HB actually drops lower when my iron deficiency is corrected...Funny how that works. If your iron is normal, check your folate and B12 vitamins. Are you eating well and sleeping enough?

And is your thyroid functioning ok? I feel pretty beat at 10 frankly but I have multiple problems and thalassemia just makes them worse.
