Sajid,
Unfortunately, there has been no research done concerning IP6 as an iron chelator. The research has mainly concerned the ability of IP6 to prevent cancer. Cancer cells thrive in a high iron environment and thal patients should be aware of this and do what they can to prevent giving cancer optimum conditions to develop. At the moment, it appears it is up to patients themselves, to try it and see if it helps. My opinion on IP6 is that regardless of how well IP6 chelates iron, its iron inhibiting properties, that prevent the formation of the hydroxy radicals that damage cells, and its apparent positive role in helping to control diabetes, are enough to recommend using it to every thal patient. The anecdotal evidence we have heard from Sharmin about her son's use of IP6 only gives even more reason to try it. By the way, because radical formation adds to the aging process, I have also begun to use IP6.
