Ear Ringing
« on: October 11, 2015, 03:42:27 PM »
I have thal b.  About 6 months ago I started taking Andy's recommended vitamin regimen, as well as 27 mg of Fe per day (I've been told this is OK for thal b).  The iron alleviated my most noticeable thal symptoms, a rapid heartbeat, and constipation, I'm virtually symptom free now.  However, a few weeks ago I began to develop tinnitus.  I've been researching and now see that iron overload can cause ear ringing.  Is this accurate?  Could it be the iron or one of the other vitamins?  Am I in a catch 22 with iron?

Usually in chelated thals tinnitus can be caused by toxicity from cheating medication.  I see that you are a thal minor, and not chelating.

Tinnitus can be related to rapid heartbeat, which some people may experience due to proximity of ears to major blood vessels.  It can also result from TMJ disorder (relating to the jaw) or other inner ear issues.

Have an iron panel of tests done. If your iron levels are normal, stop taking iron.

All we are saying is give thals a chance.
