Title: Thrombophilia
Post by: Manal on July 29, 2008, 12:39:22 PM
Hi,

1- Are there any signs of thrombophilia in thal patients?

2- Are there any blood tests one should do regularly to keep an eye on such problem other than platletes and taking vitamin E ? I once heard that there is a blood evaluation test where 12 things are tested to see if you are at risk of thrombophilia or not, but i don't know what is the name, anybody knows?

3- At what age one should fear thrombophilia, i mean can it happen to children?

Thanks
manal

Manal,

I have posted a new thread about Thrombophilia or the Hypercoagulable State in Thalassemia at
http://www.thalassemiapatientsandfriends.com/index.php?topic=1937.0

Briefly,
It is well established that this state exists in thalassemia.
A description of the tests are in the new thread.
It does exist in young patients.
