Title: Cord Blood Registries - Do I collect just the cord blood? or tissue? or both?
Post by: sighvang on September 16, 2015, 08:10:45 PM
Hello Everyone.

My husband and I are expecting a baby boy in November. My husband has Hemogloban H Disease (classifed under thal major). We have done the necessary tests to see if our baby will contract thalassemia and we found out that our baby will be normal. I was always told that the umbilical cord holds very important tissue and blood that could help in a bone marrow transplant for someone in our family if they should contract thalasssemia later in life. I am planning on saving my babies cord blood with Cord blood registries (cordblood.com). Their options are choosing just the cord blood and/or choosing cord blood in addition to the tissue.

I'm wondering which one should I choose or which one is probably the better option? Any advice appreciated.
