Hello everyone,
What supplements and regular blood test do you recommend for a healthy 10-year old child with Beta Thal Minor ? The child is very active, has lots of energy, good at academics and doing well otherwise. The diet is very clean : lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and other proteins.
The child could use some help in areas of growth - weight gain, bone health.
The current supplement list is : Vitamin D3/K2, Zinc, B12.
The child does get some therapy from physical therapist for co-ordination, balance and alignment.
Thanks!

I would definitely add L-methylfolate and make sure the diet includes plenty of foods rich in magnesium. Nuts are a good source of minerals. Foods rich in vitamin C should also be consumed.

Hi Andy,
Thank you for your response. As per the CBC blood work, my 11 year old son's hemoglobin is as follows :
Hemoglobin 10.8 (11.7-14.1).
Hemoglobin Electrophoresis shows "Consistent with Thal Minor".
Do you recommend any other testing ? We are hoping for him to grow more and gain some weight.
Thanks!

I don't think more testing is needed. A wholesome diet and good quality supplements are a good approach to living with thal minor.
