I was advised by my doctor to eat cereals at breakfast so to add calcium supplements to my diet. I exposed my concerns about introducing also unwanted iron into my diet, since most of the cereals have added iron (if not all). However, she replied that the the iron in the cereals would not add more than what I normally eat from red meat and it's nothing compared to the iron overload arising from blood transfusions. I may have understood it wrong, but I guess it makes sense.
