TrueHb Hemometer
« on: November 08, 2014, 12:02:21 AM »
http://truehb.com/

Does anyone have experiences with this device?

The ones I find in Germany are mostly 'special equipment' for medical entities and cost atleast multiple hundred Euros. One device for private use, which also measures blood sugar, mentions a +/- 20% tolerance, which is not good. The mentioned device claims

Quote
Nano-biochemistry based technology for 100% specific, <5% tolerance in 4-20 mg/dL range & large testing temperature range (5-45ÂșC)

This is a new product (2014) and should be far cheaper than previous products to check Hb. The device, has been validated by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for its efficacy.
This page offers it for sale in India. I do not know if it is available elsewhere yet, and I have not found any reviews. It may take some time to become widely available.

This company does not want your business so please ignore their products.

Are there any legal issues with shipping outside of India? If not: does anyone in this forum live in India and could help to send one of these devices to another country?

Hello jay,

it seems they have removed it from the store. I can't find it there anymore. (Maybe it is out of stock?)

Sofear, ya i noticed it after puting last comment, i tried contacting IIT (top Indian University) but in vain, now i am trying to contact developers directly. It looks like India is going to drain yet another talent to west.

If I am not able to obtain the TrueHb Hemometer, I have also thought about buying one of those used "Hemocue" devices on eBay. It seems like there have been studies done with it and it is a pretty accurate device.

Here is the reply i got from the founder:

We had taken the product off Heathkart due to some commercial issues. Right now the product is in the process of getting listed on Snapdeal and Amazon, however, for you as a special case we can provide you the devices directly. Please let me know how many strips would you need along with the two meters and where would you want the material to be delivered. Please message your email address too so that our executives may get in touch with you.

Cheers,

Ambar

Hi,
Please let me know the price of the product.
As a senior patient told that it's strip price is double than what currently available in market.

Is there even a market specifically for Hb test strips? I have never heard about that. Some other Hemoglobin meters (e.g. Hemocue ones) don't even use them, it seems.

I'd also be interested in the current price of the device and strips. If it is too expensive, I will go for a used Hemocue. (The micro cuvettes for it are quite expensive, but I don't have to buy them all at once.)

This kind of hemometers are used by Blood banks. So, neither the meter nor the strips are available in market easily.

Guys i have mailed for the quotation just now. Time will definitely reduce the price of consumables (strip OR microcuvettes).
TrueHb looks very economic while both have tolerance upto 5%, where as HemoCue looks expensive but is multitasking.

HemoCue looks expensive

The HemoCue device is older. I think it is from 2007 or earlier. It is also a lot more expensive. A used HemoCue device was my second option for an Hb meter.
