Blood transfusion in Australia while travelling
« on: June 14, 2017, 09:39:53 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if there are any Australians here that can give me some information about Thalassaemia centres in Australia. I am planning a 3 months travel around the end of the year, and I am going to be in Australia for about 2 months. I currently live in Germany but I am Italian and travelling with an Italian passport. I have already done some research and I am trying to organise the details for how and where to be transfused while in Australia.

Due to reciprocal agreement between the two countries (Italy and Australia) i am entitled to medical care.

Any info about Thalassemia units or hospitals and the ins and outs of how the system works will be greatly appreciated.

I am very excited about this trip as it will be my first taste of semi freedom or better a few 3 weeks blocks of freedom all together. I never had more then 3 weeks in a go of holidays.

thank you very much for any help
